Teens’ English 7 has been developed to address the needs of Uzbekistan young generation of the 21 century. The changes in the book have included inquiry approach leading to project work exemplifying the target learning for a unit. We understand that until the exam changes from traditional grammar based to interaction communicative the teachers will continue to teach for the exam so the approach used in these new materials is the fi rst step towards meeting the needs of the learners and teachers. Each unit starts with inquiry question, inquiry theme and overview of what the pupils are expected to learn in this unit.
One of the new things introduced in Teens’ English 7 is Home Reading given after each unit. We believe that pupils and teachers will enjoy reading the texts that have been chosen carefully to represent a real mix of classic and contemporary literature.

Dealing with errors in spoken English.
Many teachers nowadays find it difficult to decide whether they should or should not correct every error their pupils make. In the traditional classroom the emphasis is usually on accuracy and all mistakes are corrected immediately The problem with this is that a lot of pupils will be reluctant to speak for fear of making mistakes and being corrected.

In the learner-centred classroom, where pupils are being encouraged to use English in real communication, fluency is just as important as accuracy We are not suggesting that correction should be abandoned, but that it can be postponed until after the communication activities in Teens’ English. If you do this, then you will not be constantly interrupting your pupils. Of course you will need to remember the mistakes your pupils make so we suggest you note them down as you walk around the classroom. At the end of the activity you can point out some of the common or more important mistakes you noted.

9-sinf “Ingliz tili” darsligi mualliflariga ochiq xat

Assalomu alaykum, darsligimizning hurmatli mualliflari! Siz yaratgan darslik tengdoshlarim va o‘qituv­chilarimni o‘yga solmoqda, shu vajdan sizga maktub yozishga qaror qildim. Men va sinfdoshlarim o‘tgan o‘quv yili davomida 2014-yilda nashr etilgan Lutfullo Jo‘rayev va boshqa bir qancha pedagoglar hammuallifligidagi bu darslikni ko‘p muhokama qildik.

Mavzularning anchayin eski, zerikarli va takror berilishi darslarga bo‘lgan qiziqishimizni so‘ndiray dedi. Jumladan, “Personal qualities and jobs”, “Applying for a job”, “Political parties”, “Local government”, “A day in the life of” mavzulari biz uchun zerikarli bo‘ldi. Shuning o‘rniga “I am online” mavzusi qo‘yilsa va yaqin do‘stiga online xat yozish topshirig‘i berilsa yaxshi bo‘lardi.

Hozir boshlang‘ich sinf darsliklarida ham qaysi kasbni egallash mavzusidagi savollar ko‘p beriladi. Deyarli barcha boshlang‘ich sinf o‘quvchilaridan kim bo‘lasan, deb so‘rasangiz, askar, shifokor yoki yana boshqa biror kasb egasi bo‘lishini ingliz tilida aytib bera oladi. Endi 9-sinf darsligida ham kasblar haqida mavzu berilishi biroz g‘alati emasmi?! To‘gri, bitiruvchi sinfmiz, 9-sinflar kasbga yo‘naltirilishi kerak. Lekin darslikda bo‘yoqchi, mashina ustasi, sotuvchi, qo‘shiqchi haqidagi ma’lumotlar berish kerak emas-da. Bular hunar-ku?! O‘quvchi maktabni bitirib, kasb-hunar maktabida ta’lim olsa bo‘ldi, o‘sha hunarlarni egallaydi. “Job” bilan “craft”ning farqi bor-ku axir!

Sinfimizda ingliz tilini bor-yo‘g‘i ikki kishi tushunadi. O‘tgan yillari bu darsga qiziquvchilar ko‘p edik, lekin hadeb matnni o‘zbekchaga o‘girishdan charchashdi. Bir xillik qiziqishni so‘ndirdi. Nima uchun har bir mavzuga bir betdan matn qo‘yasizlar? Yana qandaydir chet elda yashaydigan Lucyning yoki Jekning kun tartibi haqida. Masalan, mening Jekning kun tartibi bilan sariq chaqalik ishim yo‘q. 45 daqiqalik dars sizning darslikka kiritgan “text”ingizning yarmini tarjima qilishga ham yetmaydi. Ulgurmaymiz. Chunki matnning ichida biz bilgan-bilmagan so‘zlar mavjud, ularni lug‘atdan topishga ham vaqt sarflaymiz. Ha, aytgancha, kitobning ortidagi lug‘atdan ba’zi so‘zlarni topib bo‘lmaydi. Darslikda grammatik mashqlar juda oz. Taklifim, agar iloji bo‘lsa, grammatikaga ko‘proq e’tibor qaratsa­ngiz. Qiziqarli mashqlar, o‘quvchini o‘ylatadigan, fikrlatadigan mashqlarni darslikka kiritsangiz. Yoki lug‘at mashqlar, mashhur internet tarmoqlari yoki internetda ko‘p qo‘llaniladigan so‘z va iboralar tarjimalari yoki shunga o‘xshash so‘zlarga to‘g‘ri ta’rif tanlashga doir mashqlar berilsa ayni muddao bo‘lardi.

Nimaga darslikdagi topshiriqlarni internetga bog‘lashimiz kerak, bilasizmi? Chunki bu o‘quvchiga, ya’ni men va mening tengdoshlarimga qiziq.

Bir o‘quvchi sifatida qo‘limdagi darslik qiziqarli bo‘lishini va shu darslikdan olgan bilimlarim kelajakda foyda berishini istayman. 9-sinf “Ingliz tili” darsligidagi 40 foiz ma’lumot o‘quvchiga jindek bo‘lsa ham foydasi tegsa, do‘ppingizni osmonga otavering, mualliflar. Kitobning boshidagi bayramlar o‘rniga turli davlatlarning urf-odatlari haqida yangi ma’limotlar kiritish kerak.

Uchragan 9-sinf o‘quvchisini to‘xtatib”, “Verb” nima?”, “Subject” nima?” deb so‘rang, qanday javob berar ekan. Men ingliz tilida ot va fe’lning nima ekanini bilmas edim. 7 oy repetitorga qatnab bilib ol­dim. Oddiy qilib aytadigan bo‘lsam, bu darslik mazmunan ancha eski. Zamonaviy ta’lim talablariga javob berolmaydi. Darslikning o‘rniga o‘quvchilarga “Murphy”, “Hedway”dan dars berilsa nur ustiga nur bo‘lar edi.

Oliy o‘quv yurtlariga kirish imtihonida talablar juda yuqori bo‘ladi. Lekin darslikning sifat darajasi past. Masalan, Prezident maktabida o‘qish uchun o‘quvchi ingliz tilini suvday ichib yuborgan bo‘lishi ke­rak ekan. Lekin ochiq aytish kerak (bejiz ochiq xat emas-ku) o‘quvchi maktab darsligidan olgan bilimiga tayanib bu maktabga kirolmaydi. Repetitorga borishga majburmiz! Nima uchun maktab darsliklari bu borada mukammal qilib yaratilmaydi? Kuchli mualliflar, ustozlar yetishmaydimi? Yoki bizga shu ham bo‘laveradimi?

Iltimos, darsliklarning saviyasi, mukammalligi, qiziqarliligini oshi­ringizlar! Jonga tegdi-ku nuqul darsda uxlash!
