Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) announced new and enhanced gaming laptops at its ‘For Those Who Dare: Transcendence’ launch at the CES 2024 tech expo in Las Vegas.
The updated ROG laptops include Zephyrus G14 and G16 portable powerhouses and a refreshed, ROG Strix SCAR 18 18-inch monster. Most feature new Intel Core Ultra 9 processors and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 graphics.
Some of the new laptops will be available from Asus’ e-Shop, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks and channel partners immediately. Local, Australian prices and availability are listed below.
ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16
The new ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 have redesigned, ‘premium’ aluminium chassis and are available in Eclipse Gray and Platinum White. The G14 is just 16mm thick and weighs only 1.5KG. The G16 is 15mm thick and weighs 1.85KG.
Both include the ‘signature Slash Lighting’ RGB bar on the chassis. Both feature UHD, ROG Nebula Display OLED panels – the G14 has a 120Hz refresh rate while the Zephyrus G16 is 240Hz. Both have Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos-enhanced speakers.
There’s also an AMD version of the G14, with a Ryzen 9 8940H processor. Both laptops are equipped with ROG Intelligent Cooling solutions.
The ROG Zephyrus G16 is available now at the Asus e-Shop, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks and channel partners for an RRP of (up-to) $3,799.
The ROG Zephyrus G14 will be available in Australia in mid-February.
ROG Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18
The new Strix SCAR 16 and 18 laptops feature a new thermal design which includes Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, Tri-Fan technology and ‘full-surround’ vents.
They have UHD, mini-LED, 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, 240Hz, ROG Nebula HDR displays and quad-speaker Dolby Atmos speakers.
Connectivity includes Thunderbolt 4, 2.5 GbE LAN and Wi-Fi 6E. Inside is a large 90Wh battery.
The ROG Strix SCAR G18 is available from today at Asus’ e-Shop and channel partners for an RRP of up-to $7,699.

ROG Strix G16 and G18
The refreshed ROG Strix G16 and G18 come with 14th-Gen Intel Core i9-14900HX CPUs and up-to Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 GPUs.
The thermal design, again, includes Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal thermal compound, Tri-Fan technology and ‘full-surround’ vents.
Both have 2,560 x 1,600, 240Hz, ROG Nebula IPS displays with Dolby Vision and HDR. Audio comes via Dolby Atmos-equipped speakers.
Inside there’s a 90Wh battery
A ‘Volt Green’ version features a metal chassis with an RGB ROG logo and a unique new ROG Slash design. An Eclipse Gray version boasts a metal chassis with a low-profile ROG Slash pattern.
The Asus Strix G18 gaming laptop is available from today at JB Hi-Fi for an RRP of $5,999
